Second Film Intro Idea (The Firm)

Film opening idea 2:

General idea and storyline:

There is a lawyer that works at a firm in New York City. Later down the road after working there for the past couple of years the character finally realises how corrupt the firms system is and wants to do something about it. After a while he figures out that they come to decisions that should not be supported such as allowing people get away with rape and murder. He feels like he should do something about this situation by taking legal action but they are to strong to take down as an individual. He takes this further into the depths of murder and wants to erase the leader of the conpany to end the lies.

Setting:

As it is based within New York City so tall built up area with a lot of buildings would be needed in order to make it believable. Another way to make it more effective to to use a building which has offices and court rooms to make the scenes that are needed.

Music:

When the intro to the film begins it should start with quite upbeat music which then stops. Throughout the rest of the film use quite dramatic music or depressing songs in order to make it feel as if the character is feeling like his mood.

Costume:

The actors would have to wear suits in order to make it feel realistic. Casual clothing is not associated with lawyers as they can afford higher class expenive clothing.

Lighting:

Bright lighting in order to show documents shown withing the camera and body language for emotions. Have lights used that are in a standard office for the realistic theme to it, and make it feel like we are there.

First Film Intro Idea (The Company)

General background/storyline:




A character that was once a hit man hired by a company that operated within that area. His job in the company was to track down targets and kill them for money. He has moved on later in his life reflecting on his terrible past and thinking about the people who he had killed. All he wants is to live a normal life again but that is not an option for the previous company he worked for as they wont let anyone just leave them. His only way out is death and they send out people to track him down and attempt to kill him. To finally escape the dead end that his life had become to he must take down the company he worked for by killing them all so they cant hurt anyone else.




Setting;


New/modern fashioned graveyard where the main character is stood over some graves staring at them and his past. For an effective setting and environment we would need moody weather in order to create a depressing scene.




Music:


Use sad themed soundtracks in order to make the grave scene depressing and sad whilst the character is staring that the graves. Could also use the same music once the two guys appear in order to try and kill the main character or change to more hyped dramatic music.


Camera:


Could use close ups of the main character to show his emotion and body language. Also close ups of the grave stones to show the people that he once tracked down and killed in his previous life.




Editing:


Insert text merging into the background and setting to make it more believable and real but not take out the whole reality aspect. Once the company appears to have tracked down the main character have them run towards the camera in slow motion to add a dramatic effect. The film title will be implemented after the people enter the intro which is then set off by multiple gun shots onto a black screen, with he film title fading in, like his past fading back into his life once again.




Lighting:




It is a quite dark themed introduction to create a sad atmosphere and depressing feel to it in the graveyard. A good time to create this lighting would be with moody weather such as cloudy, because bright sunny weather would create a totally different storyline and feel to the intro.

Shot/Reverse Shot

Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off screen), and the other character is shown looking the opposite direction to imply that both characters are looking at each other. A simple and very effective illusion and also means that only one actor/actress is used at a time.

180 Degree Rule

The 180 degree rule is essential in keeping the viewer focused and avoiding confusion. Once a scene has been established, the camera must stay on one side of the action.


If two people are facing each other, a line must be drawn. This line usually runs straight down the middle between the two people, like so:

Once this line is in place, the camera can move anywhere providing it stays on the same side of the line once filming has begun. If the camera is switching between two faces during a conversation for example and then suddenly cuts to the other side of the line, then it will appear that both people are facing the same direction instead of looking at each other.

Match On Action

Match On Action: How To

Match on Action refers to the video editing style which involves the use of different angles and camera movements to create a fluid scene.





This video is a great example of how Match on Action works as it shows different shots and explains how the match on action sequencing and how fluid the movement between each of the cameras. One of the shots shows Chandler shutting a door and how it cuts from outside the apartment to the inside in such a fluid movement.

The second shot shows a kiss between a couple of the main characters and as they kiss it cuts to a different angle where the kiss just ends so it seems like a fluid movement where actually they would have shot them at different times and cut them together.

The Dark Knight 

 

This scene shows a typical bank robbery however it has a surprising twist when the robbers start killing each other once they have served their purpose to the heist to increase the amount of money that each of the members gain. As soon as it goes down to very few members they start to wonder who has organised this crime and the murder of their colleagues. The boss is among them... The madman himself... The Joker.
